Meet the 2016 Missouri Republican Statewide Candidates

Donald Trump
Candidate for President

A graduate of the Wharton School of Finance, Mr. Trump is an accomplished author of over fifteen bestsellers. Trump is best known for building some of the most prestigious and luxurious hotels in the world. Trump has also excelled in the Entertainment industry launching the number one television show, “The Apprentice.” His show has raised over $15 million for charity.

Mr. Trump was born in Queens, New York. He is married to Melania Trump and father to Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany and Barron.

Roy Blunt
Candidate for Senate

Roy is a fifth-generation Missourian who learned about hard work growing up on a dairy farm in Southwest Missouri. He began his career as a high school history teacher and went on to become Greene County Clerk, Secretary of State, and president of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. The people of Southwest Missouri overwhelmingly elected Roy seven times to the U.S. House of Representatives, and Roy has served Missourians in the Senate since 2010, fighting government overreach and making more jobs and opportunity for Missouri families the cornerstone of his career.

Eric Greitens
Candidate for Governor

A combat veteran and Navy SEAL, Eric served four tours of duty overseas, including tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. After coming home, he founded The Mission Continues, a Missouri-based non-profit that helps returning veterans get back on their feet and give back to their communities. In 2014, Fortune Magazine named Eric one of the “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders.”

Mike Parson
Candidate for Lt. Governor

State Senator Michael L. Parson was elected in 2010 to serve the 28th District in the Missouri Senate. The 28th District includes Benton, Cedar, Dallas, Polk, Hickory, Laclede, Pettis and St. Clair counties. Before being elected to the House of Representatives in 2004, Sen. Parson served as the Polk County Sheriff. He also served six years in the U.S. Army.

Senator Parson was raised on a farm in Hickory County, and graduated from Wheatland High School in Wheatland, Missouri. He is a small business owner and is a third generation farmer who currently owns and operates a cow and calf operation near Bolivar. Parson and wife Teresa have two grown children and five grandchildren.

Jay Ashcroft
Candidate for Secretary of State

Jay Ashcroft is a husband, father, engineer and attorney. He and his wife, Katie, live in St. Louis County and have four children. He is leading the fight in Missouri to pass a common sense photo voter ID law to protect our elections from fraud. As Secretary of State, he will work to simplify the process for creating a business and reduce job killing regulations.

Eric Schmitt
Candidate for Treasurer

Elected in 2008 to the Missouri Senate representing the 15th District in St. Louis County, where he is a lifelong resident, Sen. Schmitt has authored two of the largest tax cuts enacted in Missouri history. He has also sponsored legislation to reduce the tax burden for small business job creators by 25% and to end a double taxation known as the “corporate franchise tax.”

Sen. Schmitt has been a leader in reducing the size and scope of state government that is achieving significant savings for taxpayers. He serves in Senate Leadership as Majority Caucus Chairman and is Chairman of the Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government Committee.

In 2014, Schmitt received the American Conservative Union’s “Defender of Liberty Award” given to members of the Missouri General Assembly who scored 100% on the ACU Legislative Ratings and he was a featured speaker at the 2013 regional CPAC conference. Americans for Prosperity also named Schmitt a “Defender of Prosperity” for his 100% rating on their Economic Prosperity Report Card in 2013 and 2014.

Sen. Schmitt lives in Glendale with his wife, Jaime, and their three children, Stephen, Sophia and Olivia.

Josh Hawley
Candidate for Attorney General

Josh Hawley is a conservative constitutional attorney who has been to the Supreme Court and won. A leading national expert on the issue of religious freedom, Josh was co-counsel on the landmark Supreme Court case Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, the most important decision on our First Amendment liberties in decades. A native of Lexington, Missouri in rural Lafayette County, Josh graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City and went on to graduate with honors from Stanford University. At Yale Law School, he led the conservative Yale Federalist Society and earned clerkships at the U.S. Court of Appeals, 10th Circuit and subsequently, the United States Supreme Court. Josh and his wife, Erin, also a leading national appellate attorney and former U.S. Supreme Court clerk, returned home to raise their two young sons in central Missouri.
