Open to the Public
At her supposedly public town hall in Kansas City yesterday, Claire McCaskill awkwardly avoided having her remarks filmed by rushing in and out of the room and hiding behind a pillar.
Once it was clear that recording was banned in her public town hall, Claire proceeded to come out of the shadows and “bravely” answer questions. For someone who brags about how open she is with the public, hiding at the sight of a video camera is certainly strange behavior.
“Yesterday, Claire had a ‘public’ town hall. That is, until she noticed the camera recording, asked for recording to be banned, and then hid behind a pillar until the cameraman was gone. Claire touts her openness to the public, but how are Missourians supposed to believe that when she refused to allow a single video camera at her town hall?” said Chris Nuelle, spokesperson for the Missouri Republican Party.
Nuelle continued, “If what Claire is saying is so controversial that it can’t be filmed, then she shouldn’t be holding public town halls. Either stop hiding behind the pillar or stop claiming you’re open and transparent. You can’t have it both ways, Claire.”
