MOGOP Statement on the Appointment of State Treasurer Eric Schmitt to be Missouri’s 43rd Attorney General

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Following Governor Mike Parson’s decision to appoint State Treasurer Eric Schmitt to be Missouri’s 43rd Attorney General, MOGOP released the following statement praising the decision and reaffirming their support for Schmitt:

“Governor Parson made a terrific choice appointing Eric Schmitt to serve as Missouri’s 43rd Attorney General,” said Chris Nuelle, spokesperson for the Missouri Republican Party.

Nuelle continued, “Just like Governor Mike Parson, Eric comes from humble beginnings – his father worked tirelessly to provide a better life for his family. After graduation, Eric attended law school at Saint Louis University where he served as an editor of the law review, and afterward joined a top law firm where he practiced in multiple areas. Eric would then go on to a career in public service in the state legislature, where he was a fierce advocate for those with special needs, working families, and cutting taxes. Eric Schmitt’s experience in the legal field and as a public servant will make him a great Attorney General, and we at the MOGOP are very excited to see him continue building upon Josh Hawley’s success.”
