Howell County Lincoln Day
May 18 @ 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
West Plains Civic Center Exhibit Hall
State Auditor Nicole Galloway’s refusal to comply with an open records request has led to a complaint being filed with the Attorney General’s office by the nonpartisan nonprofit Missouri Alliance for Freedom. The Missouri Republican Party released the following statement:
It has been almost seven months since an open records request was filed compelling State Auditor Nicole Galloway to produce public records from her taxpayer-funded office and text messages from her government provided cell phone. Despite the Missouri Sunshine Law guaranteeing Missourians the right to view public documents, Galloway has refused to comply and hand over the all the documents and text messages.
“Just because Nicole Galloway has never been elected does not mean that she does not have to answer to the people of Missouri” said Sam Cooper, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “Auditor Galloway likes to lecture Missouri counties about transparency and good government, but refuses to practice what she preaches. It’s time Galloway follows the law and hands over her text messages. If Nicole Galloway cannot follow Missouri law within her own office, how can she be trusted to audit others?”
