We Must Cherish and Protect our Freedoms

President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction.”

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate our nation’s independence, his words carry a new urgency this year.  We must always be working to ensure every generation understands the uniqueness of American liberty and how easily our freedoms could slip away if we are not constantly keeping watch.

We are grateful for our Missouri leaders who are Leading Right and understand and value our freedom and liberty.

On the Fourth of July, we are reminded to celebrate the freedoms we cherish as Americans and the brave men and women who have fought to preserve our great country.  Missourians across the state will gather together this weekend to celebrate our history, our people, and our heroes who proudly defend our flag.

“I am proud to lead a state that honors those who have served.  May we never forget their selfless sacrifice on behalf of our freedom.  I have witnessed this sacrifice through my time in the military, law enforcement, and now as Governor.

“It is because of these freedoms that all Missourians are able to achieve the American Dream and work towards a better, brighter future.

“Teresa and I wish all Missourians a safe and happy Independence Day weekend!”

-Governor Mike Parson

“On this 4th of July we gather with our family and friends to give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy as a result of the sacrifices of so many.  Today I want to thank our brave men and women who have served our nation in uniform.  For their character, courage, and example they set for our country and state, we owe them our most sincere gratitude.

“As Lt. Governor I have been proud to witness first-hand our state’s resilience during these difficult times.  Missourians have responded to recent challenges just as they always have with determination, heart, and optimism.  Our state and country are exceptional because of our people and our passion for freedom.  It is what enables us to pursue and achieve the American Dream, and it will see us through to better times ahead.

“From our family to yours, Claudia and I wish a safe and happy Independence Day to all Missourians.”

-Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe

“We celebrate the uniquely American premise that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, including Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness!”

-Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft

“This Independence Day let us never forget the sacrifices that have been made in defense of freedom.  As we join with friends and family to celebrate everything that makes America great, let’s also pause and remember the men and women who have given their all in service to our nation.”

-Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick

“Each day, we have the immense privilege of waking up as citizens of the greatest country in the world.  That’s reason for celebration.  I’m exceptionally proud to be an American.  Happy Independence Day!”

-Attorney General Eric Schmitt

Happy Independence Day and May God Bless America!
