Nicole Galloway, Democrats Are Target of Records Request on Troubling, Political Memo
Request Seeks Information on Whether Galloway and Her Partisan Backers Abused Taxpayer Dollars to Prepare Memo
JEFFERSON CITY – A troubling partisan memo that found zero wrongdoing, may have been prepared at taxpayer expense by Democrats conducting opposition research in an effort to influence the election on behalf of Nicole Galloway. In an effort to keep state government accountable, a Sunshine request was issued by the Missouri Republican Party seeking information on the origin of this so-called “legislative report.”
The partisan memo was prepared by a legislative aide and Democratic Party operative at the clear behest of Minority Leader Crystal Quade to help Nicole Galloway’s flailing campaign. Meanwhile, the same legislative aide was publicly attacking Governor Parson as she was preparing the partisan memo.
“Nicole Galloway has repeatedly abused her taxpayer-funded office for political purposes and we want to know what role she and other partisan Democrats played in the production of this ridiculous, political memo,” said Jean Evans, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “Ironically, this partisan memo found zero wrongdoing, but the findings of our records request could uncover real wrongdoing by those involved with its production.”
In issuing the Sunshine request, the Missouri Republican Party is seeking all emails, text messages and phone records between Casey Millburg and staff or agents of Nicole Galloway for Missouri, A Stronger Missouri, the Missouri Democrat Party and the Democratic Governors Association.
The so-called “legislative report” was only distributed to the three Democrats on the 10-member Special Committee on Government Oversight, proving this had nothing whatsoever to do with government oversight and everything to do with partisan politics.
Despite the Democrats’ best efforts, the memo finds zero wrongdoing. The Missouri Republican Party maintains that if the information contained in the political document was important, it should have been shared with the full oversight committee. The fact that it was instead leaked to the media the very day it was created is clear evidence this was a political operation with the sole goal of falsely smearing the governor.
The memo’s author, legislative staffer Casey Millburg, has worked as a Democratic Party operative, and recently advocated for tearing down monuments to George Washington and Abraham Lincoln while attacking Governor Parson on social media.
