Claire McCaskill’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Week!

This was an eventful week for Senator Claire McCaskill that raised more troubling questions about her credibility and commitment to Missourians. In case you missed it, here’s the weekly roundup.

Monday — “Twitter Made Me Do It”
We already knew that Claire McCaskill lied on Twitter about her interactions with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, but we didn’t know the full extent of the lie. On Monday, CNN broke a story revealing that not only did she have prior contact with the Ambassador, but she actually attended dinner at his residence. McCaskill blamed Twitter, saying it didn’t give her enough characters to tell the truth. This revelation and McCaskill’s blame-shifting response was a reminder of her other questionable behavior, like investing in the opioid industry and Planned Parenthood, all through an undisclosed foundation. Tuesday – “Mixtape for Claire from Team MOGOP”
In response to Monday’s revelations, the Missouri Republican Party was inspired to bring back the lost art of the mixtape and curated a playlist dedicated to McCaskill. The ode-to-Claire playlist features classics like Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies,” “Don’t Lie To Me” by St. Louis native, Chuck Berry, and other songs telling us what we already know—lying is a deal-breaker! The playlist garnered so much attention on social media that Team MOGOP launched it on Spotify.  Check out the playlist here.

Wednesday – “Dark-Money Dinner”
McCaskill was quick to praise the rollback of the Waters of the United States Act on Wednesday morning, but this was just another reminder of her selective memory. Not all that long ago, she actually voted against multiple efforts to overturn it. Read more details here.

Meanwhile, as Team MOGOP’s playlist grew, so too did McCaskill’s web of deceit. The plot thickened on Wednesday when even more troubling details revealed that not only did McCaskill wine and dine at the Russian Ambassador’s home, she actually used funds from an undisclosed family foundation to pay for it.

Thursday —“Obstruction of Safety?”
As local and national news media continued to opine on McCaskill’s Ambassador debacle, the House of Representatives passed Kate’s Law and the No Sanctuary Cities for Criminals Act—both of which are designed to save lives. McCaskill thwarted the progress of these laws once before, and Missourians will be watching to see if she gets it wrong again.

Friday —“A Moderate? Really?”
McCaskill’s busy news-week prompted a look back not just at McCaskill’s lies of all shapes and sizes, but also at what is perhaps the biggest falsehood of all —McCaskill’s claim that she is a moderate.
