Despite McCaskill’s Political Gamesmanship, Gorsuch is Finally Confirmed
JEFFERSON CITY — Today Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court with unanimous Republican support in the Senate.
Associate Justice Gorsuch’s record has earned him a broad base of bipartisan support and the highest endorsement of everyone from the American Bar Association to the National Rifle Association.
“Today, by confirming Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court, our country took the next step in restoring strength to the bonds of the liberty and justice to which this nation was formed,” said Todd Graves, Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party. “Thank you, President Trump and Senate Republicans, for doing your job to honor the will of the American people by appointing and confirming Associate Justice Gorsuch – who will undoubtedly apply the rule of law, uphold our Constitution and preserve freedom for all people.”
Despite earning unanimous support from Democrats during his confirmation to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2006, only three Democrats voted in support of Gorsuch’s appointment to the Supreme Court. Senator Claire McCaskill was caught on tape last week voicing her intention to confirm Gorsuch, only days later announcing she would join her fellow Washington Democrats in obstruction.
“Senator McCaskill joined her fellow Washington Democrats in obstruction when she chose to filibuster and vote against Associate Justice Gorsuch – completely ignoring the will of her Missouri constituency,” said Austin Stukins, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “Despite McCaskill’s negligence in putting her Democrat Party before the people, Missourians now have the voice of Associate Justice Gorsuch to echo their values in the highest court in the land.”
