MOGOP Calls on Khristine Heisinger to Recuse Herself from Investigation

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – A few days ago, Khristine Heisinger, Deputy General Counsel for the Missouri Secretary of State, indicated to Democrat political operative Brad Woodhouse that they would be investigating Attorney General Josh Hawley’s office based on Woodhouse’s frivolous and unfounded accusations. The media recently discovered Heisinger personally donated $750 to Teresa Hensley, Josh Hawley’s opponent for Attorney General in 2016, as well as $2,750 to Claire McCaskill, Josh Hawley’s opponent in 2018. In total, going back to 2006, records show Heisinger donated almost $23,000 to Democrat candidates. She also worked for Claire McCaskill’s attorney, Chuck Hatfield for 11 years. In response, MOGOP spokesman Chris Nuelle released the following statement calling on Heisinger to recuse herself from the investigation:

“Khristine Heisinger has personally donated over $3,500 to Senator-elect Hawley’s political opponents and worked for Claire McCaskill’s attorney. Despite Woodhouse’s baseless and politically-motivated complaint, Heisinger still decided to investigate. To say there’s a conflict of interest would be a gross understatement, and the fact that she didn’t recuse herself from this investigation immediately is cause for concern. Heisinger has to recuse herself right now.”
