MOGOP Renews Calls for Claire McCaskill to Confirm Kavanaugh

JEFFERSON CITY, MO —  Today, the confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh began, and we’re still waiting to hear where Claire McCaskill stands. Additionally, her colleagues have launched a ridiculous protest of Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination, devolving the confirmation process into a sideshow. MOGOP is renewing their calls urging Claire McCaskill to vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh and call on her to denounce her colleagues’ actions.

“Judge Brett Kavanaugh is eminently qualified and has served his country as an assistant to President George Bush and on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Kavanaugh has promised to uphold the Constitution, and he would undoubtedly make a great addition to the Supreme Court, which makes Claire McCaskill’s vague positioning even more confusing,” said Chris Nuelle, spokesperson for the Missouri Republican Party.

Nuelle continued, “Despite several polls showing that a majority of Missourians support Judge Kavanaugh, Claire McCaskill has repeatedly given vague answers relating to her position on Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination, even claiming that it wasn’t a ‘political winner.’ Additionally, Claire McCaskill’s colleagues planned a coordinated protest of Judge Kavanaugh and used his confirmation hearings to grandstand. We again call on Claire McCaskill to listen to Missourians instead of Chuck Schumer, vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh, and denounce her Democratic colleagues for their ridiculous actions. Claire claims to have the best interests of Missourians in mind, now it’s time to prove it.”
