Nicole Galloway is in Violation of Missouri Open Records Law
The Republican Party of Missouri released the following statement:
In May, Missouri Alliance for Freedom, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization made an open records request to State Auditor Nicole Galloway. In July, Missouri Alliance for Freedom was forced to sue Nicole Galloway in order for her to comply with the request. During a hearing in September, an attorney testifying for the Auditor revealed that she was not producing text messages on state devices. The Auditor’s office did not definitively explain why the texts hadn’t been produced, apparently relying either on the advice of counsel or on the assertion that the text messages didn’t exist. Those text messages have still not been turned over by the Auditor. Public court proceedings of the suit can be found here (case number 17AC-CC00365).
“Nicole Galloway likes to talk about government transparency but her actions mean much more than her words” said Sam Cooper Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “She is the worst kind of politician, the kind that says one thing and does another. Since September, she has refused to hand over text messages on state devices that pertain to state business. This is a clear and blatant violation of Missouri open records law. It’s time for Nicole Galloway to start following her own advice and comply with the law.”
