Team MOGOP Reviews Claire’s Feature Film, “A Fair-Weather Moderate”
While this may have been a short holiday week, it certainly wasn’t quiet! In the wake of continued backlash over lies about her contact with the Russian Ambassador, Senator Claire McCaskill held town halls on Wednesday and Thursday. In case you missed it, here’s the weekly roundup.
Sunday—“Just Own It Already”
On Sunday, the Kansas City Star Editorial Board chastised McCaskill for failing to own her recent Twitter blunders and dishonesty about her prior contact with the Russian Ambassador. The article closes by saying “the senator got it wrong. And there’s no excuse for that.”
Wednesday/Thursday—“Fair-Weather Moderate”
McCaskill held several town halls throughout Missouri, under the pretense of connecting with Missouri voters. Yet McCaskill didn’t announce these town halls until late last week, and most of them fell during normal work hours, making them more like glorified dog-and-pony shows.
Before town halls in Mexico and Ashland, several Missouri Republicans showed up with signs to highlight McCaskill’s recent lies surrounding her contact with the Russian Ambassador, and encouraging voters to ask for answers they deserve.
In a not-so-surprising turn of events, McCaskill flip-flopped when pressed on several hot-button topics like Kate’s Law and the repeal of the Waters of the United States Act. Although McCaskill previously steered far left on these issues, it seems she is making a sharp right turn in light of the looming election.
As McCaskill continues to either evade the truth or flip-flop on it, the one question she simply can’t answer is why she still calls herself a moderate, despite that she was Barack Obama’s most reliable surrogate, voting with him 93% of the time. Her radical track record also includes voting with Elizabeth Warren 86% of the time and teaming up with other far-left extremists to join the Resistance against President Trump. Maybe the answer is simple—she is only a moderate when her reelection depends on it.
