Trudy Busch Valentine Has Already Been Bought

Jefferson City, Mo. — Despite her claims to stand up to health insurance companies, Trudy Busch Valentine’s financial disclosure statement filed July 3rd, shows the Democrat U.S. Senate Candidate has several large investments in those exact health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and holdings in other health care stocks. Indicating a possible conflict of interest.

Last week the Springfield Daily Citizen reported that Busch Valentine’s financial disclosure statement shows “several large investments in pharmaceutical companies.” Including:

  • Between $500,001 and $1 million in shares of Abbott Laboratories,
  • Between $250,001 and $500,000 in Abbott’s spin-off AbbVie,
  • Between $500,001 to $1 million in companies such as Merck, Johnson & Johnson, and Amgen, another biopharmaceutical company.

The filing also showed Busch Valentine “had holdings in other health care stocks, such as UnitedHealth Group, HCA Healthcare, CVS, LivaNova, and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.” UnitedHealth Group is the world’s largest health insurer. According to the disclosures, in 2021, Busch Valentine earned between $237,908 and $2.1 million in income from dividends and capital gains from her health insurance investments. Ethics experts have stated Busch Valentine’s investments could “raise questions about how that person is going to operate as a member of Congress in terms of ethics and conflicts of interests.” If elected, Busch Valentine would be one of the wealthiest members of Congress.

“Trudy Busch Valentine would vote with ethically compromised D.C. Democrats if elected,” Said Nick Myers, Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party. “Her rhetoric does not align with her portfolio, which has been profiting significantly from health insurance company investments. Eric Schmitt has already stood up for all Missourians calling out Big Pharma and insurance companies when needed. We can trust him to continue that work in D.C.”
