COLUMBIA—The Missouri Republican State Committee elected Kansas City area attorney Todd Graves as the new state GOP Chairman on Saturday, January 7th.
Graves’ election, which was unanimous, comes on the heels of a historic election cycle for Missouri Republicans, which saw the GOP sweep all seven statewide elections while retaining super-majorities in the General Assembly and continuing to increase our strength in county courthouses.
“I am honored to lead the Republican Party during this historic time,” said Graves. “Missourians have entrusted Republicans with the great responsibility of leading our state. I look forward to working with our Republican elected officials to grow our party by governing responsibly, making life better for all citizens, and taking our party’s positive message to every single Missourian.”
Graves is a partner at Graves Garrett law firm in Kansas City. A former U.S. Attorney appointed by President George W. Bush, Graves has prosecuted cases ranging from health care fraud and public corruption to narcotics trafficking and terrorism financing. The lifelong conservative is President of the Pony Express Council of the Boy Scouts of America, serves on the Board of Directors of Ballotpedia, and is a founding member of the Kansas City Missouri Police Foundation. He lives with his wife, Tracy, and four children on a farm just north of Kansas City.
“Todd Graves is a conservative fighter, and I know that he will do an outstanding job as party Chairman,” said Governor-elect Eric Greitens, who supported Graves’ selection. “I’m excited to work with him and his team to take Missouri in a new direction.”
Outgoing Chairman John Hancock praised Graves’ election. “Todd Graves is a strong leader, and he has tremendous political sense, proven fundraising ability, and an ability to unite people. I expect that he will lead the Republican Party to continued success in 2018 and beyond, ” said Hancock.
The State Committee also elected Kay Hoflander of Higginsville as Vice Chair, Nick Myers of Joplin as Secretary, and Pat Thomas of Jefferson City as Treasurer. Each election was uncontested and unanimous
